There is this saying that I’ve heard and it usually starts with, don’t let your “but” get in the way. For example, when someone is trying to explain their way out of something or they’re trying to prove their side of the story they usually say, “(but) then this happened”, or… “(but) you know I’m always good at holding my word”, or etc…
I just love this topic. It’s because I have the freedom that He gave me through His never ending love. When I think about all that He has done for me, ohh, I could just fall and worship at His feet. Jesus came and put His foot in the closing door of my life and swung it open. I am free of the guilt of sin. There is nothing that can hold me down except for me, myself and I. He’s done it all!
Look at this in the book of Ephesians chapter 2 verse 4.
“But God–so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us.”
Look at this. But God….! Think of the way you were or still are trapped in sin and then say BUT GOD — so rich is He in His mercy!!!! Ever since the sin of the first man Adam we have been held by it, But God…, the second man Jesus has set us free. We no longer have to live with guilt or shame.
You may say, yeah, yeah, but I’m already saved. Ask the Holy Spirit though to reveal to you anything that might be holding you from living your life in the grace of God. I don’t care if you’ve screwed up today…You don’t need to hold on to that guilt of sin. But God — so rich is He in His mercy! I’m not in anyway trying to imply that we can keep on sinning because we’re forgiven. God forbid. We can keep on trying on our own but His grace cannot be earned by our good behavior (Eph 2:9). His grace has everything to do with what He has already done by Him shedding His blood (Titus 3:4-7). I am forgiven from now until eternity.
My siblings in Christ, make up your mind to serve the living God and even though you’re still going to mess up from time to time you have a Savior that you can go to. Say, “Jesus I’m sorry for what I did, please help me not to do that again” and then move on. You are forgiven already.
For those sitting on the side lines, God has called you to be one of His. Call on Jesus today. Tell Him that you know that you’re a sinner and confess to Him that He is your Lord and that you receive His forgiveness that He already provided through Jesus blood. Tell Him..I receive your forgiveness and then choose to live your life for Him.
I know from my own life that I sometimes can hold guilt and shame when I screw up sometimes. I’ve come to the realization that Gods grace was not only available when I first came to Jesus but is throughout my whole life. I’ve learned to trust in His grace everyday. I’m learning to fight fire by proclaiming what I know is true in Gods word.
Try making time today and go read Ephesians chapter 2 verses 1 through 8 to see where I’m coming from. I’m currently reading this from the Amplified version.
Anyways, I just wanted to throw this out there to anyone that’s looking.
–May God richly bless you.
